Healing Our World: Addressing the Wounds of Racism
Online via ZoomRacism, bias, and hate take an incalculable toll on people throughout the U.S. Despite slow and hard-won progress in the past few decades, racism is still deeply embedded in our society and ways of thinking. Recent events show us that our country and the global community will not heal until we courageously and honestly address the damage inflicted by racism and engage in the work of transforming the beliefs and systems that uphold it. Our storytellers this month will reflect on the conversations about racism in their faith communities, where they see unexpected successes, and how they’re tackling the challenges of working toward change. Conversations From Your Spiritual Core
Online via ZoomConversations about challenging issues require us to see others at a personal, innately spiritual level. This is the essential first step on the path into a tough conversation and, like a spiral, one we need to return to repeatedly. So how do we do this? Take the first step with "Conversations from Your Spiritual Core." This interactive online session can help participants prepare for conversations on challenging current issues. We'll connect to our spiritual cores through reflection, storytelling, and deep listening. In a small, facilitated breakout room, you will share a 3-minute story of a time when you drew upon the teachings of your wisdom tradition–religious, philosophical, or ethical–to navigate a challenging conversation with another person on a current issue. What gave you confidence in that moment? What helped to shift the conversation from an impasse to a way forward? Note: This online interactive event will not be recorded. Participation is limited to 35 participants, so please register ASAP if you plan to attend. REGISTRATION IS CLOSED AT 35 PARTICIPANTS Registration for our next Conversation September 11th will be available July 12th at noon. Register early to assure your space.
