With the 2018 midterm elections around the corner, Angelinos gathered on Sunday, Oct. 21 for an inspiring presentation of “Values at the Voting Booth.” Interfaith speakers addressed the need for us to find hope and common ground with one another, while still living our truth and letting our faith guide our decisions.

“We as faith leaders must stand up to address the lies and rage and vitriol saturating our public discourse from all sides. We must speak out to reaffirm the values of justice and compassion that are at the very heart of our many faiths and religious traditions,” said the Rev. Dr. Gywnne Guibord, opening the program with a powerful statement about the need for us to stand together.

“When we vote … we are participating in a larger public sphere … and there are many world views that may not be ours,” said Dr. Rahuldeep Gill. He added that we have to find a way to share differing world views as we strive for justice in the halls of Congress.

Program highlights included Ananda Los Angeles and Jessika Kenney, who sang and led the audience through some much-needed meditations, providing a moment for a collective sigh of relief during this tumultuous time.
