Conversations from your Spiritual Core

Online via Zoom

The Guibord Center—an interfaith network of spiritual communities—believes all human beings have an innate spirituality that guides them, and a life story worth listening to. Conversations about challenging issues require us to form meaningful connections to help us see others as "just like me." This is the essential first step on the path into a tough conversation and, like a spiral, one we need to return to again and again.  So how do we do this? Take the first step with "Conversations from Your Spiritual Core."  This interactive online session can help participants prepare for many events during the 6th Annual National Week of Conversation and other challenging conversations in life.  We'll connect to our spiritual cores through reflection, storytelling and deep listening.  In a small breakout room,  you will be asked to share a 3-minute story of a time when you drew upon the teachings of your wisdom tradition—religious, philosophical or ethical—to navigate a challenging situation with another person.  What gave you confidence in that moment?  What helped to shift the conversation from an impasse to a way forward?   Please join us!   Note:  This event will NOT be recorded.  Each breakout room will have a facilitator to serve […]

Integrating Spirituality in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Online via Zoom

School leaders, faculty and students are facing an opportunity like never before, especially in their DEI efforts.   We’re exploring the Whole Self/Student and our various identities. However, there is one vital facet we need to talk more about: our Spiritual Self - how it connects to our life's purpose, strengthens our relationships. and guides us through challenges. Recent psychological research shows a strong connection between spiritual well-being, identity formation, and resilience--a connection we have become more keenly aware of in the past few years because of the pandemic and the heightened national conversation about race, gender, and other aspects of identity.   How can educators tap into the this wealth of new knowledge about the neuro-protective benefits of spirituality to help themselves and their students stay strong in these challenging times without crossing the legal and social lines around religion?  The Guibord Center, an educational interfaith nonprofit, invites you to the next series of "Integrating Spirituality in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion."  These one-hour online workshops have been designed for teachers and DEI Directors.  The workshop series uses storytelling, reflective journaling and deep listening skills to guide participants in conversation on several key questions: How do we distinguish between spirituality and religion? What activities or practices give us a sense of […]

Inspiring Stories: In the Face of Irreconcilable Differences

Online via Zoom

Bridging the red-blue divide in our families, faith communities, and beyond   Welcome to our third season of storytelling and conversation on complex issues we all care about. Once again, The Guibord Center and IslamiCity are bringing together people with rich spiritual backgrounds and diverse perspectives to share powerful stories from the heart and invite you into the conversation. We’ve all been there–that moment when we realize that our political disagreements with someone we care for are so profound that we wonder how we will be able to keep the relationship going.  In those moments, what kind of guidance can we find in our spiritual traditions to make important decisions about whether to stick with it, take a break or bring it to a close?  Our storytellers will share their experiences and the wisdom they have leaned on in those challenging moments.  Our Moderator and  Speakers for this event:   REGISTER
