Sacred Drumming
September 28 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreeBuilding Community through West African Sounds and Spirituality
Many of us yearn to meet in person, to see each other, to be together – especially in these tough times. The spirituality of Guinea West Africa and indeed, of Indigenous Spirituality throughout the world, is deeply communal. It is often expressed through tribal rituals such as drumming. Drumming awakens the heart and reconnects us to the Earth and the essence of all beings.
You’re invited to join us Saturday, September 28 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. PT for Sacred Drumming: Building Community through West African Sounds and Spirituality at St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral, 514 W Adams Blvd, LA, 90007.
The event is open to all to take part and join in. Drums will be provided, and you are welcome to bring your own or just soak in the rhythm. We’ll be led by two exceptional artists: Helen Bond, a dynamic percussionist, educator, and storyteller, and Fode Camara, a member of the Susu ethnic group who shares the rich culture and spiritual traditions of his people.
We hope to see you on September 28 as we build community through the sacred spirit of drumming!
