It has been a year of heartbreak and resilience – for The Guibord Center community and for every caring person throughout this troubled land.
Thank you for your outpouring of love, prayers and support to Gwynne, myself and our staff during this time of profound transition. They have meant the world to us.
Gwynne saw this time coming long ago. She prepared us to go on without her and to continue to work tirelessly to stand together honoring the Holy in all beings with graciousness, courage and compassion.
That’s what The Guibord Center has always done and, with your help, will continue to do in new and powerful ways as we carry Gwynne’s legacy forward.
We began this year with the very human, personal stories of Paramahansa Yogananda. Known as the first modern guru in the West, he brought many amazing teachings with him, including the ancient and transformative Vedic traditions of yoga and meditation.
We joined together for a beautiful major community event packed with stories and dance, liturgy and music to honor and uphold the sanctity of the Sacred Feminine in women and in men.
We journeyed through the roof-raising power of gospel music to join in the restoration of a piece of stolen dignity from the men and women of Africa, whose rich native spirituality lies at the heart and soul of the genre.
Woven between these programs were others that focused on the compassion of animals and the profound sanctity of the earth, and our growing vibrant partnerships with schools and the National Council of Churches.
All of these will not end. They will continue to grow and to thrive!
On the night of The Guibord Center’s “ONE HEART” dinner last year, Gwynne charged all of us to not abandon this work and the good we each do. To not allow the violence, cruelty and lies that fill our airwaves to become the “new normal.”
I made that pledge to myself… to Gwynne – and to each of you.
The Guibord Center will continue on. And with your help, it will grow and thrive and provide a new norm of hope and integrity and healing for generations to come. Please give generously.
