Spirituality of Nature

The Guibord Center’s Spirituality of Nature initiative invites us to reconnect with the sacred presence in the natural world.

Whether it’s the quiet awe of a sunrise, the grounding energy of a forest, or the knowing gaze of an animal, nature opens a path to healing, meaning, and transcendence.

We explore the science and spirit behind this connection—partnering with researchers like Dr. Lisa Miller and organizations like Animal Defenders International—to share stories, studies, and lived experiences that affirm what many spiritual traditions have long known: Creation is not separate from us. It is alive with wisdom, wonder, and soul.

The spirituality of nature brings peace, meaning, and a sense of connection.

It reminds us we’re part of something greater and inherently good. By deepening our relationship with the natural world, we grow compassion, build resilience, and find hope.

How we treat animals and the earth shapes how we treat one another. When compassion is encouraged, it becomes a lasting source of strength and purpose.

Storytelling at the Intersection of Faith and Nature

We create films and programs that bring faith leaders, rescuers, scientists, and researchers together to explore the sacred bond between animals, nature, and spirit. Through storytelling and dialogue, we examine how diverse traditions understand our relationship with the living world and what it means to act with care and responsibility toward all of Creation.

Our award-winning film Anima is available to watch for free and offers a powerful entry point into this conversation. Join us in experiencing the essence of Creation and discovering how spirituality can guide us toward compassion, stewardship, and reverence for the interconnected web of life.

Impact in Practice

Bringing Faith into the Rescue

The Guibord Center partners with Animal Defenders International to amplify the call for compassion toward animals and the natural world. Together, we brought the voices of faith leaders into the heart of ADI’s Guatemala rescue—where 17 lions and tigers were saved—and documented their powerful stories of love, justice, and sacred responsibility.

We continue to share their stories and the remarkable growth of the ADI Wildlife Sanctuary in South Africa.

An Award for Compassionate Leadership

In 2020, Dr. Lo Sprague received the British Lord Houghton Award for Service to Animal Welfare from Animal Defenders International.

The honor recognized her work on ANIMA: Animals. Faith. Compassion, an international award-winning film produced by The Guibord Center, that brings together multiple faiths to advocate for compassion for all animal life.
