Dr. Laila Al-Marayati is a Palestinian-American physician, interfaith leader, and lifelong advocate for human dignity whose work is rooted in the Islamic values of compassion, justice, and service. A board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and former Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, she has dedicated her career to caring for women and families while advancing health equity and human rights.
For decades, Dr. Al-Marayati has been a respected voice for religious freedom, peacebuilding, and the empowerment of women. She has served as a presidential appointee to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, represented the United States at the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women, and has long been a spokesperson for the Muslim Women's League, promoting greater understanding of Islam and the rights and dignity of women.
As Chairperson of KinderUSA, Dr. Al-Marayati continues to put her faith into action through humanitarian service, working to meet the medical and humanitarian needs of vulnerable communities, including children and families affected by conflict in Gaza. Throughout her life, she has embodied a spirituality of compassion, courage, and bridge-building, inspiring others to see caring for one another as a sacred responsibility.
